Dr. Bonaffini obtained her Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry and Classics, from the University of Pittsburgh. She then earned her medical degree from LECOM Bradenton in Florida. Dr. Bonaffini completed her Ophthalmology residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she served as the Chief Resident and received invaluable instruction from the renowned faculty of Wills Eye Hospital. She further honed her expertise through a one-year fellowship in Cornea Surgery and External Disease at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
Clinical Interests & Specialties
- Surgical and medical treatment of cornea, anterior segment, and lens disorders
- Corneal transplant surgery including full-thickness corneal transplantation (PK), partial thickness endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK, DMEK), laser vision corrective surgery such as PRK and LASIK as well as corneal collagen crosslinking for the treatment of keratoconus and post-LASIK ectasia.
- Cataract surgery and intraocular lens technology especially in patients with coexisting corneal disease
- Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and injectable facial rejuvenation such as Botox and fillers.

Dr. Bonaffini is an active member of professional societies including the Cornea Society, Women in Ophthalmology, and the Refractive Surgery Alliance. She is also an ambassador for YoungMD Connect. Dr.Bonaffini also shares her expertise by delivering lectures at academic institutions and national meetings.

What is Your Favorite Part About Being an Ophthalmologist?
I am fortunate to work in a field where we have the technology to impact lives daily through improvement and customization of vision. I love forming relationships with my patients and preserving and restoring vision is my passion.
What is Your Favorite Thing to Do Outside of Work?
I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants down the shore and in the city of Philadelphia, as well as spending time with my husband and fur babies, Lucille and Dolly.
